It’s A Joy To Have Her Here
Erin McKeown And Kris Delmhorst
Tonight I went to the Tractor Tavern in Ballard to see Erin McKeown and Kris Delmhorst, two very talented female singer-songwriters, perform.
I had never heard of Kris Delmhorst before but I’m glad that I have now. I don’t usually like female vocalists, but something about Kris’s voice sounded right to me. Her songs seemed very tender but not sappy. The crowd was great too. We got to sit on the floor and enjoy the mellow music. It’s been awhile since I’ve really enjoyed the vibe of a crowd so much.
Erin is much more rock n’ roll than last time we saw her. She has a band with drums and keyboard, and the guitar parts are louder and don’t seem as unique. I liked it, but I missed hearing some of her other solo songs. I think she’ll probably appeal to a wider audience with this new style and that’s a good thing. She’s really got a stage presence for such a little girl.
Blogs Beat Microsoft Knowledge Base
One of my servers stopped working with Microsoft Update. So I searched Microsoft’s knowledge base. I didn’t find anything helpful. So I contacted Microsoft’s tech support. They told me to register a bunch of dll’s. One of them didn’t register, mscml3.dll, so I searched Microsoft’s knowledge base again. No luck. Then I found a blog post that solved the problem for me. And he’s using the same wordpress theme as I am. Kinda creepy. I love that everyone can publish solutions to their problems and share them with others so easily now. Major props to DjLizard.
Aquasox Baseball
Jacob’s group at Boeing had a bunch of tickets for the Everett Aquasox game, so Kim and I got to go too. We showed up early to have some free food. I’m beginning to believe that free food isn’t worth it’s price. It’s usually of terrible quality and leaves me feeling worse after eating it. Hotdogs, hamburgers, soda and potato chips don’t cut it for me anymore. Eating little meat, organic vegetables and lots of home-cooked food makes if really difficult to be happy with standard mass produced food.
The food may have stunk, but the inflatable toys were awesome! Kim and I ran an obstacle course, slid down a big slide, and tried to see how far we could go while harnessed with a bunji cord. It was almost all little kids doing these events, but I think that’s just because most of the adults there were kinda boring.
The game itself was fun, but a little drawn out. We sat with Jacob and Waleska and a friend of hers. There was lots of action, but it seemed to take forever to happen. I think it’s just that I was tired. Kim and I left at the 7th inning stretch since the game had already been going for close to three hours. I guess that is a pretty long game, even for baseball.
Comedy Underground
Kim and I went to see Auggie Smith at the Comedy Underground. Very funny show. He rants and raves in a very amusing way, kinda spastic and shouting. At first I thought he was drunk, but I think that’s just his style. It comes off as very unrehearsed and quick-witted. There were some other comedians too. A guy from Coeur d’Alene was pretty funny, but his set was really short.
Cinderella Man
Cinderella Man is a good movie even if it does follow the plot of almost every other sports underdog plot, complete with getting in shape music montage (set to Irish music this time). (more…)

Ubuntu Linux
I’m finally trying to make the complete switch over to linux from windows. As much as I consider myself good with computers I’ve had too many problems getting things to work in the past to stick with any linux install. (more…)
